Healthier Super Bowl Dips

Hummus and pico and guac…oh my!

Who doesn’t love making fun food for Super Bowl Sunday? Football pairs well with pizza which pairs well with beer which pairs well with…….well, an upset stomach that night and regret the next morning. Here are 3 dips that will leave you satisfied, happy and feeling great the next day. Make sure all canned goods are non-GMO, have no added sugar in the ingredients and are organic if possible.

  1. Connie’s Hummus

    2 (15 oz) cans garbanzo beans, drain 1

    1/3 c Tahini

    1 Freshly Squeezed Lemon

    2 T Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    5 cloves garlic, minced

    1 t salt

    Mix in blender or food processor.

  2. “Skinny” Pico De Gallo

    1 (15 oz) can yellow corn

    1 diced green bell pepper

    1 diced red bell pepper

    1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed

    3-4 diced tomatoes, seeded

    1 small diced red onion

    1 T diced jalapeno pepper

    1/4 c extra virgin olive oil

    Drizzle top with balsamic vinegar

    Salt & pepper to taste.

    Stir!

  3. Guacamole

    4 ripe avocados

    3 T freshly squeezed lemon juice

    8 dashes hot sauce

    1 small diced red onion

    1 glove garlic, minced

    1 t Himalayan pink salt

    1 t black pepper

    1 medium tomato, diced

    Mix all ingredients in a bowl and chill for 1 hour.

Pair with carrots or organic, non-GMO blue tortilla chips and at least one of these recipes is bound to make an impression. Enjoy!!
